Charming village house with private pool near to historic Pezenas.

Beautiful old village house, tastefully styled with own private pool in Languedoc, near ancient town of Pezenas, sleeps 6-8. Conveniently positioned 20 mins from sandy beaches of the Med. Situated in centre of lively village, but lovely quiet backstreet near to all local amenities - 2 exquisite bakers, 2 butchers, grocers, bars and restaurants. Fresh local produce available.

House is perfect for exploring region and enjoying canoeing/kayaking, golf, riding and Languedoc Nat Park. Beziers airport is around 20 minutes away and Montpellier only 45 mins away. Area is rich in activities. We have full file of tourist interests at house. Our local tourist office in village is a stones throw away, and has a welath of information and even sells wines from the local domaines - oh how convenient!!.

The house has 3 lovely bedrooms, (2 doubles and 1 twin), plus a very comfortable double sofa bed in the lounge. We also have a single "put me up" for child, if need be. Each bedroom has its own bathroom - (1 x shower/bath, 1 x wetroom, 1 x shower-room, all have loos too). Wetroom and shower-room are brand new and are beautifully appointed.

House has been refurbished and has high standard of decor, including wonderfully interesting artworks on walls. We have combined the new with the old to bring together an overall creative ambience.

Outside we have lovely sun terraces, perfect for alfresco dining. Our Morrocan covered terrace is an ideal shaded area for relaxing with views of pool below and village and hills beyond. You will also find a French day bed here, where some guests in the height of balmy summer, have slept under the stars (star beds!). The terraces have been tiled with handmade tiles, chosen for their aesthetic quality and sympathy in natural hues of the surrounding old French village houses.

The private pool goes without saying...a complete necessity in the summer, providing wonderful refreshing dips and fun for kids too. Although the coast is only a short ride away, having our own private pool is a little luxury that we really enjoy!

House is very well equipped with all mod cons - vital to your enjoyment on holiday - a new dish washer, wash m/c, tumble drier, satellite TV, DVD, i-pod docking station and a great selection of board games and books....

The wi-fi in the house provides the opportunity to keep up with your emails or work, if you can't bear to leave them!! But we are sure that the lovely Meditteranean climate will definitely distract you!

Roujan is perfectly positioned to the mountains, the coast, the lakes, historic places of interest - with bustling Pezenas, the Roman architecture of Nimes, and historical Carcassonne and much much more. Herault has 60 miles of coastline with 13 marinas spread along its length. Most of the coastal area is part of a conservation zone, meaning it is one of the most protected and therefore unspoilt coastlines on the Mediterranean. Towns on the coast include Sete, and Le Cap d'Agde. Sete is probably the most important fishing port on the French Mediterranean coast. Le Cap d'Agde is the largest purpose built tourist resort in the whole of Europe. It can accommodate up to 100,000 tourists at any one time.

Herault's second largest town Beziers is at the centre of the largest wine making area of France. Beziers was burnt to the ground in the early 13th Century but the prosperity brought to the town by a boom in the wine industry enabled the city to be restored to its original form. The surrounding scenic hills are dominated by Beziers' valuable vineyards.

Moving inland from the beaches and saltwater lagoons, the land gradually rises into the beautiful Languedoc National park and to the east the craggy area of the Cevennes. It is a picturesque landscape complete with lakes, gorges, rivers, and mountains. An ideal landscape for outdoor recreation.

Herault's diverse landscape offers a variety of activities from relaxing on the sun drenched beaches to a multitude of different adventure sports.

Explorers will find hundreds of kilometres of marked out pathways that can be travelled by foot, on horseback or mountain bike. This is a perfect way to take in the historical places of interest and view the spectacular mountains of the region.

For those keen on water sports there's plenty of scope for kayaking and white water rafting through stunning mountain gorges. Also, fishing, sailing, kite surfing and more at the numerous beaches and lakes including the popular Lac du Salagou.

For something more sedate Herault offers many golf courses including the international 18 hole golf course at Juvignac near Montpellier. A course that uses to its advantage the landscape and natural vegetation.

Access is easy. there are international airports in Montpellier and Beziers, and Nimes, Carcassonne and Toulouse, Easyjet and Ryanair flying regularly.
